Link Building Strategy

Link building is technically a process of connecting websites in order to attract and optimise websites. This method is one of the integral part in acquiring a high page rank in major search engines. On the other hand, it is also undoubtedly the most arduous and time consuming element of search engine marketing. There are no easy paths to link popularity as search engine do not want phony links.

So, get suited and booted as we get down to business and learn the ways to boost the link popularity of your site.

The most common way is to email or contact the webmaster of a site that will complement your site but is not competitive to your own.

Always prepare the link you want to put out, this way it is harder for them to drop your offer. Once in contact, you need to ask them if they can link you to their site while giving a brief summary of the benefits of the link, as much as the information needed making it easier for them to give you a link.

And naturally, offer a link of your site in exchange of the courtesy. Just make sure you provide an original content of your website to your trading partner. Make certain you give out the exact link text to use, so that they can easily just cut and paste it onto their page. Always have time so surf to their site, to be sure that they really have a links page and then advise where a link to you is applicable. Of course, emails should be added with a personal touch, so that the webmasters you will know it is not spam.

If the link is that vital, calling personally or sending a fax might be a good thing to do, to show them how serious you are. People tend to be responsive to requests when you present yourself by phone while informing them that you recently visited their site. As always warm voice goes a long way, than a cold email.

Try to asses people who ask for reciprocal links. They must have links from other sites and they must have the capacity to make changes of their own site. A simple note should be given once they give you a reciprocal link, otherwise take their site off from yours and move on.

Keep in mind that the links are both good for search engine optimisation and website traffic, however, it does not mean that if a link can give you good traffic, it will be good for your rankings too.
